Choosing Optimism for SuccesS:
Increasing
Wellbeing Through Positive Psychology

(in-person or online)

This class is for you if you want to improve your life satisfaction by becoming more optimistic. You will learn to practice scientifically validated strategies used in Positive Psychology (such as crafting “power phrases”) that will help you immediately achieve this goal.

Positive Psychology is a scientifically basedbranch of psychology, which was pioneered by Martin EP Seligman from the University of Pennsylvania. Positive Psychologyis the science that explores how happiness and well being can be improved and sustained by building on our strengths, rather than trying to fix our weaknesses. In other words, it differs from traditional psychology by focusing on what is right with you as a way to build on intrinsic strengths and abilities.

In this interactive and fun exploratory workshop you will discover the benefits of Positive Psychology by experiencing the powerful role of optimism as a practice that science has linked with improved wellbeing and life satisfaction. With practice, positive self-talk creates a higher optimism quotient and positive results!

After a brief overview of Positive Psychology focused on cultivating optimism, you will have an opportunity to measure where you are on the optimism-pessimism spectrum. Then you will learn specific strategies to help you become more optimistic. By learning from the process and each other, you will come away with specific tools that you will apply to a current situation you are facing. Once these tools become a habit, they will help you improve every aspect of your overall wellbeing.
